To maintain the financial records and accounts of the district to ensure accurate accounting of the payroll budget RESPONSIBLE TO:
Board of Education, Superintendent of Schools
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience in accounting preferred 3.
Proficiency in the use of computers, various office machines, and telephone equipment 4.
Must pass screening tests 5.
Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing skills and job performance PHYSICAL CONDITIONS:

Wage and benefits determined annually by the Board of Education ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1.
Support the district's vision and framework 2.
Implement all policies that govern the financial operations of the district as determined by various governmental agencies, the Kansas State Department of Education, and the local board of education 3.
Maintain the financial records and accounts of the district to ensure accurate accounting of the payroll records 4.
Prepare monthly payrolls for all payroll funds of the district Payroll Clerk Page 2 of 3 5.
Reconcile bank statements in accounts payable and payroll 6.
Process timesheets and re-cap sheets for monthly payrolls for all departments 7.
Set up and maintain a transmission schedule with the bank(s) for direct deposit of payroll 8.
Enter all W-4 changes, TSA changes, and insurance changes for each employee 9.
Create payroll reports monthly for FICA, Medicare, unemployment, KPERS, and federal and state withholdings 10.
Complete and submit annual KPERS report 11.
Process W-2 registers and W-2 forms for each employee 12.
Maintain a personnel file for each employee 13.
Set up new employees on district database and human resources programs 14.
Deduct annuity payments from employees' paychecks and reconcile all billings 15.
Deduct health insurance premiums from employees' paychecks and reconcile monthly billings 16.
Submit all forms related to health insurance (e.
g.
, changes, drops, new enrollment) 17.
Annually verify each employee has submitted a Section 125 form and all health insurance forms during the open enrollment period 18.
Maintain leave records for each employee 19.
Implement and maintain the workers compensation files 20.
Reconcile the annual audit of payroll records 21.
Assist employees with retirement procedures as it relates to KPERS and health insurance 22.
Process activities accounting for the middle school and high school 23.
Complete all reports as requested 24.
Maintain the district inventory 25.
Serve as KPERS representative (designated agent) Payroll Clerk Page 3 of 3 26.
Assist the district's clerk of the board and treasurer as needed 27.
Communicate effectively and work cooperatively with members of the school district and community 28.
React to change and frequent interruptions in a productive and positive manner 29.
Respond to information requests in a cooperative, courteous, and timely manner 30.
